The formation of the band is going pretty smoothly for only being at it a week. it is consuming me right now. in a good way. I have got: a drummer, a latin percusionist, two guitars, an alto sax who rips shit up, a trumpet player and me on bass. the weekend i am auditioning two more guitar players, a trupmet/singer,and a singer. i am stoked on this aswell. just keep movin on up. any way. stay in school.

The Funk Orchestra

the time has come for me to step into the spotlight and show the world the power of the FUNK. My old band has become nothing and so i must begin anew. Yesterday i began gathering muscians, and soon I will form what will become the best funk band out of Victoria in 400 years. There will be many muscians, maybe 9, and the music will make it immpossible to sit still. The formation and learning of tunes may take some time but i am thinking the first gig will be sometime in late may or june. it will be wonderous. I have yet to come up with a name but feel that it is essential to the formation of such a group. therefore i am offering a free 24 oz. bottle of liquor to the person who come up with the best name (that is the one i like the most and perhaps use). The contest is starting now. tell your friends. Free liquor! feel the funk.

Time flys like the wind, fruit flys like bannas

Sometimes shit gets heavy you know? Living in paradise don't mean life's always easy. I hate to whine but my friends are all meloncollie and I think I see why. Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, peoples wonderin where their lovers is. Can men and women be friends without hormones getting in there and producing sex? Some would say yes, some would say no. I sure hope so. Sometimes, shit gets heavy. ahhh humanity. peace

Studying in the woods

Today was a good day, went out and studied biology on the top of Scafe hill, way out behind thetis lake, it was a beautiful day. It was fun because the girl i was with was studying moss and ferns in her bio class so we got to look at all the moss and lichen and all that good stuff. field trip! super. i found out that i start next sunday at the fireside grill playing every sunday 11:30 to 1:30 for the next three months. everyone come have brunch and see (well, more hear i guess) some great music, should be rad. unless your broke, then i understand. or in another part of the country. but thats a poor excuse.

I started writing music the other night, first time in a long time. I haven't been able to write anything for the past six months, so i was happy to get someshit out of my brain and onto paper. It really helps with keeping the sanity. the last post was the first copy of lyrics to the song, its not a whinny "ohhhh i'm sooo lonely and hurt" song its more a "fuck! i feel goood now, gotta get right" song. sounds good when i plays it at least. stoked. whatevs thats all, peace

not gonna have a SIP of drink

cause i don't need your love

.....

I was born in a cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving rain,
But it’s all right now, in fact, it’s a gas!
But it’s all right. I’m jumpin’ jack flash,
It’s a gas! gas! gas!

I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag,
I was schooled with a strap right across my back,
But it’s all right now, in fact, it’s a gas!
But it’s all right, I’m jumpin’ jack flash,
It’s a gas! gas! gas!

I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead.
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled.
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread.
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I was crowned with a spike right thru my head.
But it’s all right now, in fact, it’s a gas!
But it’s all right, I’m jumpin’ jack flash,
It’s a gas! gas! gas!

An Account of the Best Day of My Life

I feel bored, and a bit depressed by the mildly good, mildy shitty weather. So today I was thinking of the best memory I could, trying to get myself back up. It was a pretty fucking amazing day, so I decided to share it with all you people out there in intranet land. Its kind of longwinded, but no one's forcing you to read.

The year was 2002, mid april, in a wonderful little town in Australia called Byron bay. I awoke to the sound of birds and the babble of a little fountain out side the cabin/tent I was sleeping in at my hostel. It was a beautiful sunny day, about 8 in the morning. I got up, put on my board shorts and had a bite to eat. Then I meandered down the road to the beach with my surfboard and walked along it for about half an hour to another beach where the waves were POUNDING in. The beach was about ten miles long and had perfect white sand, so fine it felt like flour. The tropical rain forest came right down to the beach and there were birds everywhere. I got all streched out and headed into the water and into what ended up being the hardest struggle I have ever had in the ocean.
45 minutes of pure terror, trying to fight my way out through the shore break in ten foot waves on a beach I had never even seen before, knew nothing about and which had rips I didn't even know about till the next day (the rips can suck you a mile out to sea in a matter of minutes and there ain't shit you can do about it). Every second wave would send me right back to shore forcing me to use almost all my enegry just to get out past them. when I finally got out to the place where the waves were actually breaking (the white water was what had been knocking me in), I saw something that made me really want to give up. As the waves stood up, the faces where full of fish swimming VERY fast away from something. In Australia that is a bad sign. So I figure "hey there is two other guys out here, if there's a shark around, I have a one in three chance." Stupid perhaps? Anyway, I kept on paddling and finnaly made it almost out past the waves when I finally saw what had been chasing the fish as the next wave the stood up in front of me. Imagine a wall in your house, plus two feet, of water, about to crash down on your head while you're lying on your stomach. Okay now your there. So in this, perfect, glassy, crystal blue wave are three dark forms about the size of a .....well, about the size of dolphins I guess, swam by me at incredible speed, I have never seen anything move so fast ocean the ocean before. It wasn't sharks that had the fish riled up! It was dolphins! So I got out past the waves and there in front of me was a whole pod of dolphins jumping and playing in the water. I was exausted by that point so I just sat and watched them for a few minutes until the swam right over to me. I slid off my board and started swimming along with them while the kept just out of my reach but close enough that I though I could touch them. They were all around me, under me on all sides, front and back. I think there were about ten of them all together. I got to swim with them for a while and then they got distracted and swam away. I was feeling pretty great by then so i thought I'd go for some waves. After trying and failing for a while (I'd never been out in anything over 6 feet before and I was only 18=scrawny weakling), I finnaly got into one. As I was riding, inside the wave were two dolphins right beside me riding along with me. As the wave ended the doplhins, in almost perfect sync, backflipped out of the wave infront of me. I shit you not.
I only got one wave that day and that was it. I went in and there on the beach was a nice British guy who offered to share his spliff with me, and as we were smoking it, two sexy young Australian chicks (the only other people on the whole beach, ten feet from where we were) decided it would be better it they sunbathed nude that day. I don't remember the rest of the day but that was up to about 9:45 am. And I'll tell you this much, I'm sure it didn't get worse.

As an after though I now rememeber going up to the top of a cliff the next day and seeing at least five big white tipped sharks swimming right where I had been surfing the day before.

IIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiIIIII wish that people had little bubbles over their heads so you could see into their thoughts. then you could see some amazing things i bet! also it would let people understand each other more i think. maybe it would just stop everyone from talking at all. weird.
think about it

My mind's playing tricks on me!

One minute i think i am playing it cool. The next i think i have gone and fucked everything up, the worst part is there seems to be now basis for these thoughts at all! nothing changes between the time on one and the time of another! I don't know what the hell is going on! In any case, right now things seem to be on an upward turn. Same with the weather, i am sitting here in shorts and with no shirt on! In march. Wonderful it is. And isn't it lovely how the weather brings people out of there shells and into the light. I rode my bike to school again today, might not be such a good idea! I tend to get all wet with sweat, and i know how much everyone loves sitting next to the sweaty guy in class! You don't??? TOUGH SHIT! I SWEAT AND I DON'T CARE! BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ahem.
I don't know. whatever. blargh! peace.

My beds too big without you

i slept sooooo bad last night! damn it, the whole time i was trying to sleep i just kept thinking about this one girl too. very odd, i haven't had anything like it for a lonnnnnng time. I tried to got to sleep at 12:00 and i don't think i actually passed out till around 2:30 and then woke up again at 7:00 after tossing and turneing all night. Same with the night before too. I don't even know why this girl was in my head, she must have me shook. Just like shawn desmond "this girl, she got me shoook." maybe not. But still, I guess i'm infatuated and it has just been too long for me to remember what it is like. Insane, i'm sure other people get it too. It just occupies your mind every free moment you give it, and you can't do anything about it. Am i alone in this? Do other people get like this? I wouldn't call it a crush because i don't even know if i really like the girl. I don't really know what is going on. crazy that people can have this power over other people with out even trying. aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. so the reason i wrote the name of this blog is that it is a Police song (My bed's too big without you) I listened to it on repeat for about half an hour this morning. That made me feel somewhat better. peace.
